Amber Reeves
Mezzo-Soprano Amber Reeves recently completed her Master of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music. She continues her studies under the tutelage of Veronica Veysey Campbell and Janet Haney.
She is a returning member of the company at The Dorset Opera Festival, where her roles include Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro and The Madrigal Singer in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. In their 2024 season, she performed as Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. In Summer 2024, she also sang the role of Emmy in Gothic Opera’s critically acclaimed production of Marschner’s Der Vampyr as part of the Grimeborn Festival.
With the Royal College of Music International Opera Studio, Amber has performed as Juno (Orpheus in the Underworld) and Il Cucculo (La Bella Dormente Nell’bosco). This summer, she will debut the role of Mother in Alisa Zaika’s I Romance, as part of the RCM’s Contemporary Opera Showcase Revolutions.
Royal College of Music opera scenes include Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Mistress Quickly (Falstaff), Tessa (The Gondoliers), and Smeraldina (Little Green Swallow).
Amber is also an experienced chorister, having sung with the St Catharine’s College Choir during her undergraduate studies at Cambridge University, where she read English Literature. She now sings with I Tredici, with whom she has premiered Paul Carr’s Requeim, ‘The Light of Love’ both in recording and performance in the Madonna dell’Orto, as well as the Italian premiere of Paul Carr’s ‘Four New Seasons’ in the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, Venice.
Amber is an enthusiastic performer of contemporary and experimental repertoire, having worked with composers Michael Bascom and Arya Pugala on premiere performances of their songs. She was a soloist recently for a collaboration between experimental Japanese artist Keiji Haino and progressive choral ensemble Musarc. She continues to develop her own musicianship through experimental digital sound design and composition.
